Bragging....

Ok, so I am going to brag on my son.

But first, sorry it has been so long since I blogged.  Amazing how life gets in the way of writing.  I have read "a million" books since last I wrote.  Maybe I will review some in upcoming posts.

At my 8 year old son's parent teacher conference, his teacher said this about him:  Your son is a reading leader in our classroom.  Whenever he is done with work, he grabs a book and reads it.  The other kids in the class watch him to see what he is reading and ask him opinions about his book.  When he returns his books, the other kids clamor to check out the book so they can read it too.  They know that he chooses interesting books worth reading.

He is reading above grade level.

Wow!  As a Reading Specialist and a mom, this is the kind of information I want from teachers about my kid.  I am so proud of him and so excited that I am raising the next generation of book lovers.  I think that his sisters rival him for the title of the one who loves books most.  My 2 year old was reading Brown bear, Brown bear in her bed all by herself during rest time and my older one reads well past time to go to bed to devour her latest Accelerated Reading choice.

Enough button popping for today.  :)
